Mike Shaughnessy is the retired co-chairman and president of ColorMatrix. He and his business partner acquired full ownership of a small plastics colorant manufacturer joint venture that became ColorMatrix in 1985.
ColorMatrix is a manufacturer of liquid colorant dispersions for the thermoplastics industry headquartered in Berea, Ohio. Originally servicing the commodity injection molding business, the company introduced this technology into the rigid PVC extrusion market for pipe and siding. Later, through collaboration with The Coca-Cola Company, the business expanded into coloring PET resins for the global packaging industry.
In May 2006, Mike sold ColorMatrix to Audax at which time he became co-chairman until the sale of the business in December 2011. Previously, Mike was a manufacturer’s representative in the plastics industry for Chemiplast, a regional sales manager for Cincinnati Milacron Chemicals of Reading, Ohio and a sales representative for Mallinckrodt Chemical of St. Louis.
Mr. Shaughnessy currently serves on the advisory boards of three private equity funds and is an investor in those funds. He serves on several nonprofit boards including The Catholic Community Foundation, The Western Reserve Land Conservancy, Notre Dame College, Greater Cleveland Squash Association, and White North Stables.
